The location offers several spots for beginners as well as for advanced riders:
- Lagoons, with their ultra flat water, are perfect for freestyle sessions.
- One of the lagoons is shallow, which is ideal for initiation to kitesurfing.
- During the South West monsoon (from May to October), beautiful waves allow wave riding sessions.
- A 50 meters large sand strip separates the Ocean and the lagoon, a good speed spot.
Spots directly at Kite Kuda Camp:
We can quickly change from the lagoon to the Ocean as they are separated by a 50m large beach :
The ocean, right in front of the camp, presents a beautiful 500 m long wave that unrolls during the SouthWest monsoon period (from May to October). The wind is “Cross-On shore”.
The lagoon, 200 meters South of the camp, is where we teach kitesurfing. As it is shallow, it is perfect to begin and, with its flat water even with strong wind, it is ideal for freestyle sessions as well.
Spots close to the Kite Kuda Camp:
There are many spots close to the Kite Kuda Camp.
Dreamspot is the perfect spot for freestyle, freeride, speed, wave riding. Dreamspot is a 50 m wide sandspit between Puttalam lagoon (perfect flat water) and the Indian Ocean. We organise some kitesafaris to Dreamspot.
Around 15km downwind from the Kite Kuda Camp there is the Sethawadiya Lagoon. Have a nice downwinder in the waves and go for freestyle in the lagoon after. We organise some kitesafaris or just pick you up, after your downwinder to Sethawadiya Lagoon
And many others great kitesurf spots around the camp and on the puttalam lagon side.
